The name of this blog is a sort of play on words. My wife is an officially licensed NYC tour guide, so I’m the NYCTourGuy. Haha! Get it?!?

Yeah, nobody else does either.

Well, tomorrow it’s more than just a play on words, at least for a day. Evi was double booked, so she asked me to step in for her in what must be the easiest job in tourism: the Meet and Greet. All I have to do is meet about 50 tourists that arrive by bus, say hi, and lead them on a 20 minute walk to the entrance of the 9/11 Museum.

“You don’t have to know anything,” she said. “You can’t possibly screw this up.”

It’s like she doesn’t even know me.

Oh, I’ll grant you, this is such a simple task, a trained monkey could do it. It’s just that when I’m waiting for the bus to arrive–you know, the time I should be making sure all my ducks are in a row–I’m pretty sure I’ll instead be figuring out what jokes I’m going to tell. You know, priorities.

Okay, I actually am trying to take this seriously. At least serious enough that I met Evi in lower Manhattan today and we walked the entire route. It is laughably short. You could jog it in four minutes.

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

P.S. Evi took a couple of pics while we were meandering today. Enjoy them below.
